Remembering Our Nation

Remembering Our Nation
The Independence celebration of our nation draws near, so let it be a time of reflection, unity, healing, showing respect and thanksgiving. Any nation that forgets God will remain divided, full of strife and hurt. In spite of the political climate of this country let’s join together and celebrate remembering that America is called a land of the free and the home of the brave. It’s country that is considered   a place of justice, liberty, happiness and peace.
It was Martin Luther King Jr. who quoted Amos 5:24,

“But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream,” to stress the importance of justice. Each of us has our part to play in the execution of justice, so play your part well. The greatest peace one can have is a peace of mind. The greatest freedom one can have is the right to choose and speak. The greatest way to have happiness is help others as we pass along.

This Independence is a time to think of what I can do to make my nation better instead of waiting on others. It’s a time to reach out and help someone struggling to survive or to find some meaning to life. Let’s use our God given talents to help and they will make a difference in place where we are.

A Prayer for Our Nation

Heavenly Father,
God of all nations, thank you for this country so vast and beautiful. Let your peace reign in our hearts and over the country. Be with those that govern and those that are governed. Impart wisdom to ‘the powers that be’ as they meet and deliberate and make decisions. Forgive us as a nation for the failures that cause a divide, the negligence that leave some bitter, the stubbornness that leave some fighting causes that lead to dead ends, and unwillingness to show love to all races, color, class and cultures. Guide our nation from this day forward we pray. Amen.
