America's Second Independence

America’s Second Declaration of Independence
America had a tyrannical King and declared her independence. That’s understandable. America chose a new King, God who was and still is loving, just and kind. So why would America want to be independent of such a loving King? Oh well some say it’s good old pride. America is no longer a baby. She is all grown up now and she wants to do her own thing.

Steps America took to declare her independence from her loving King, God.
"Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers, and our Country."
“The 22 word prayer was declared to be unconstitutional and led to the removal of all prayer from public schools in the case Engel v. Vitale. This little prayer acknowledges God only one time. The Declaration of Independence itself acknowledges God 4 times.” “Within 12 months of Engel v. Vitale, in two more cases called Abington v. Schempp and Murray v. Curlett, the court had completely removed Bible reading, religious classes/instruction.
This was a radical reversal of law - and all without precedential justification or Constitutional basis. The Court shared its justification for removing Bible reading from public schools. The Court at this time declared that only 3% of the nation professed no belief in religion, no belief in God. Although this prayer was consistent with 97% of the beliefs of the people of the United States, the Court decided for the 3% against the majority.”

God's Grace Still Holds America

God truly sheds His Grace on America!

“America! America! God sheds His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.” Look around you today. What happened between America and her King, God? He is no longer welcome everywhere. In times of trouble America calls on Him. In times of calm, America shuts the door in His face.
Abraham Lincoln was asked if he thought God was on our side. He responded: “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side. My great concern is to be on God's side.”

One thing remains the same: America’s King, God is still merciful to her and those who seek Him are still able to find Him even today.

Listen to the words of French writer Alexis de Tocqueville, after visiting America in 1831, "I sought for the greatness of the United States in her commodious harbors, her ample rivers, her fertile fields, and boundless forests--and it was not there. I sought for it in her rich mines, her vast world commerce, her public school system, and in her institutions of higher learning--and it was not there. I looked for it in her democratic Congress and her matchless Constitution--and it was not there. Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great!"

I believe America is great because her God is greater!
Gracious Father in heaven, the one who loves America and caused her lands to be fertile, please help us to return to the “secret of our genius and power;” help us to return to You, our King eternal, the only Wise God! This is our solemn Declaration of Dependence, Amen.
Pray for America, God is still Gracious!

Remembering Our Nation

Remembering Our Nation
The Independence celebration of our nation draws near, so let it be a time of reflection, unity, healing, showing respect and thanksgiving. Any nation that forgets God will remain divided, full of strife and hurt. In spite of the political climate of this country let’s join together and celebrate remembering that America is called a land of the free and the home of the brave. It’s country that is considered   a place of justice, liberty, happiness and peace.
It was Martin Luther King Jr. who quoted Amos 5:24,

“But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream,” to stress the importance of justice. Each of us has our part to play in the execution of justice, so play your part well. The greatest peace one can have is a peace of mind. The greatest freedom one can have is the right to choose and speak. The greatest way to have happiness is help others as we pass along.

This Independence is a time to think of what I can do to make my nation better instead of waiting on others. It’s a time to reach out and help someone struggling to survive or to find some meaning to life. Let’s use our God given talents to help and they will make a difference in place where we are.

Did you know you have a Father in Heaven?

Did you know that you have a Father
who cares about you?  ©drowe
“And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.”  Mathew 10:30
Why would a God who created the entire universe, takes the time to count all the hairs on your head, even if they fall to the ground or change color?
That’s amazing, not to mention time consuming. Do you know how many months it would take to count all the hairs on your head? Parents who love their children do not take the time to count every hair on their heads. I doubt they could no matter how hard they try.
Look with me at hair counting.
Hair counting involves closeness. The counter of the hair has to come very close to the hair that will be counted. He must touch each strand with His hand as He counts. This requires gentleness.
Hair counting requires patience. When one or more hair falls to the ground, the One who is counting must stop and take note of that fallen hair because it is part of the person. Hair is very personal. It is part of who you are. One by one He counts with a joyful heart.
Hair counting involves a very special relationship

Why would God bother to not only count but to assign a number to each hair on your head? He is a loving Father who is interested in you, His child! He enjoys being close to you and wants you to trust Him. He wants a relationship with you so that you can get to know Him as your Father. He wants you to understand His patience and His gentleness towards you.
He wants you to know how much He loves you and cares for the things that pertain to you no matter how insignificant they may seem. He is giving you His undivided attention. It’s not about the hair, it’s about a Father who totally loves His son or daughter, that’s you and He wants you to know He is not too busy. Everything about you matters.

My Father in heaven, thank you for loving me when I didn’t even know You.
Thank You for taking the time to count and number all the hairs on my head. Help me
